Andrea Tompa

Nimeni on Tompa Andrea (Tompa on sukunimi), ja olen Romaniassa syntynyt unkarilainen kirjailija. Olen asunut Unkarissa viimeksi kuluneet kolmekymmentä vuotta. Kirjoitan romaaneja, joita on julkaistu viisi vuodesta 2010 alkaen.

Ensimmäinen romaanini nimeltään Teloittajan talo (ei suom.) sijoittuu tapahtumiltaan 1970- ja 80-luvuille ja kertoo Romaniassa asuvan unkarilaisperheen elämästä. Tuota aikaa luonnehtivat sorto, köyhyys ja toivottomuus. Teos on julkaistu englanniksi Bernard Adamsin kääntämänä nimellä The Hangman’s House, kustantajana Seagull Books.

 

My name is Tompa Andrea (Tompa being my family name), I am a Hungarian writer born in Romania, living in the past three decades in Hungary. I write novels, I have published five since 2010.

My first novel, The Hangman’s House is set in the 1970s and ’80s. It narrates the life and times of a Hungarian family in Romania. Those were extraordinary times of oppression, poverty and hopelessness. The novel was translated from Hungarian into English by Bernard Adams, and published by Seagull Books.
