Matti Summanen

Matti Summanen (b. 1937) is an author and critic who writes about the effects of war, the conflicts of the recent past, and the conflicts between generations. Summanen won the J. H. Erkko Poetry Prize in 1971 for his debut novel Haukka lentää. Since then, he has published three novels. He is probably the only member of the Union of Finnish Writers who has participated in all of the LIWREs since the 1970’s.
