Kim Thúy

Kim Thúy was born in Saigon in 1968, and when she was ten years old, her family fled the Vietnamese communist regime with other refugees known as the boat people. She lives in Montreal. Before setting out as an author she worked as a lawyer, interpreter and a restaurant owner.

Kim Thúy’s award-winning first novel Ru was first published in 2009, with the Finnish translation by Marja Luoma published in 2019. Thúy’s work teaches us to see beauty and goodness everywhere, even in the smallest of details.
