Anni Sumari

Anni Sumari (b. 1965) has written seven books of short stories and poetry and a travelogue about a writers' train that toured Europe in 2000 (Junanäytelmä, Train play 2001). Her sixth collection of poems Mitta ja määrä (Measure and Degree,1998) was awarded the Finnish Broadcasting Company's Dancing Bear poetry prize and appeared in Swedish last year. Sumari's latest collection of poems Sineariaani (2000) was entered for the Runeberg Prize. Her poems have also been translated into Russian, German, French, English, Spanish and Lithuanian. She has rendered into Finnish a collection of Samuel Beckett's short stories (2000).
