Sami Parkkinen

Helsinki writer Sami Parkkinen (b. 1962) debuted with the collection of short stories Loordi (Lord) in1987. It was praised for its absurd humour and easy-going approach. Since then, he has written four novels and a collection of short stories, one book for children and plays and adaptations. His latest novel Teo (2000) was entered for the Finlandia Prize. It was extolled for its warmth and gentle humour. Next autumn will see the release of his fifth novel Tulva (Flood). Parkkinen has studied Finnish literature and drama at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Helsinki.
