Kestutis Navakas |
Lithuanian Kestutis Navakas (b. 1964) is a poet, literary critic, translator, a member of Kaunas development forum and founder and current director of the “Seven solitudes” book club. The book club arranges literary evenings and concerts. It also runs a book shop. From 1993 to 1996, Navakas wrote weekly columns for the Kaunas newspaper "Kauno diena" and from 1997 to 1998 reviews of new books for Lithuanian television. He has been publishing poems since 1981, including the collections Krintantis turi sparnus (1988, "The falling man has wings") and Pargriautas barokas (1996, "Overturned baroque"). His poems have been translated into German, Russian, Latvian, Polish, Danish and Icelandic. Navakas has translated into Lithuanian German, English, French, Georgian and Polish literature (e.g., W. von der Vogelwiede, E.A. Poe, B. George, E. Jandl, German Romantics and Expressionists). |
