Twm Morys (born 1961) is one of the most important modern poets and essayists writing in Cymric. In his poems he creatively uses the tight system of sounds and rhythm (cynghanedd), which has been preserved in Welsh poetry since the Middle Ages. In his collection of poetry Ofn Fy Het ('Afraid of My Hat', 1995) oral tradition, a peculiar sense of humor and popular and highbrow components form an impressive whole. His newest collection of prose Mymryn Bach o Hon ('A Little Bit Of This') appeared in 1998. After his university studies Morys has worked at the BBC and lectured at the University of Rennes. He is currently a freelance writer and sings in his own band.
