After his studies in a variety of fields, the Kazakhstan writer Didar Amantaevich Kossylbekov (print name Didar Amantay, b. 1969) has worked as a news reporter and producer of TV documentaries in the Kazakh Joint Stock TV and Broadcasting Company, a dramaturg in the Kazakh State National Academic Theatre, a journalist, a translator, and a teacher of philosophy at the Kazakh State National University. In 1996, he published a collection of short stories, Post scriptum, which won the Soros-Kazakhstan-Debut award. Last year, he published a volume entitled Bless me, which contains three miniature novels, short stories and philosophical essays. Kossylbekov has also received several awards for his work as a journalist. He writes articles on the history, geopolitics and culture of Kazakhstan for a number of newspapers and magazines, including a Prague-based Internet magazine called www.tol.cz.
