Mohammed Bennis (born 1948) from Morocco has published about 20 collections of poetry, essays and studies. He has also translated literature written in French into Arabic. A collection of poetry, Le don du vide, that came out in 1992 received the Moroccan literary prize Le grand prix de livre and it has been translated into French. Bennis teaches at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Rabat and he wrote his doctoral thesis in modern Arabic poetry. In addition, he writes actively for newspapers and periodicals published in Arab countries.
