Majgull Axelsson (born 1947) is a Swedish writer and journalist, whose novel Aprilhäxan ('April Witch') received in 1997 the prestigious August literary prize and became largely popular among readers. The book is about Desirée who is the only survivor of the children who in the 1950s were locked up in asylums. Since the 1980s Axelsson has written non-fiction works about social injustices and documentary novels that have dealt with the use of child labor, sex tourism and street kids. Her first fiction novel Långt borta från Nifelheim ('Far from Nifelheim) was published in 1994. |
