Eraldo Affinati

Eraldo Affinati (born 1956), Italian journalist and writer, has published three novels, the latest of which, Uomini pericolosi, in 1998, as well as two collections of essays. The latter of these, Campo del sangue (1997), was a finalist for both the Strega and Campiello prizes. It is the writer's and his friend's travel journal from Venice to Auschwitz. A study on Milo de Angelis' poetry Patto giurato appeared in 1996. Affinati thinks highly of such writers as Tolstoi, Faulkner, Hemingway and Conrad. He lives in Guidon near Rome and teaches Italian in a business college.
